1. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

This is a true Christmas classic made even better by the real star of the movie, Max – the ever-loyal best friend to the grumpy Grinch! In the live-action film starring Jim Carrey, Max was actually played by six different mixed-breed shelter rescues – Kelly, Chip, Topsy, Stella, Zelda, and Bo, all of which were later adopted into loving forever homes!

2. Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure

Everyone’s favourite St Bernard Beethoven takes on the responsibility of saving Christmas in this festive favourite. This light-hearted, easy to follow movie is perfect for an afternoon of snuggling with your pup, watching Beethoven’s mission to rescue an elf, find Santa’s missing sledge and return the magic toy bag to save the day!

3. Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups

Disney knows how to do Christmas movies, and Santa Paws 2 is no exception. This adorably festive treat sees four of Santa’s pet puppies sneak onto Mrs Claus’ sled and discover the magical town of Pineville, causing some Christmas mischief along the way. You and your pup, will love this one!

4. 12 Dogs of Christmas

Think Footloose, but instead of dancing, it’s dogs that aren’t allowed. This wholesome story is set in a town where dogs have been banned by the mayor and his nasty dog-catcher of a brother in the Great Depression era. Luckily, a young girl teams up with the owner of a nearby canine sanctuary to change this and uses dogs to teach the town about the true message of Christmas.

5. A Dog Named Christmas

As to be expected from a Hallmark movie, this is an extremely heartwarming tale that you’ll love watching with your own pup by your side. A developmentally-challenged 20-year-old convinces his family to foster a dog for the holidays, and they bring home a golden lab which he names Christmas. The pair form a strong bond and the relationship is life-changing for the whole family. Who doesn’t love a happy ending?!

6. Santa Buddies

When Puppy Paws, the feisty son of Santa Paws, wishes that there wasn’t a Christmas in front of the Christmas Icicle, it starts to crack and causes the North Pole to begin melting. The only thing that will restore it is if Puppy Paws learns the true meaning of Christmas. We can all take a lesson from this feel good Disney movie, as the Buddies remind Puppy Paws that Christmas is not about what you get; it’s about what you give.

7. The Dog Who Saved Christmas

This made-for-TV Christmas movie is reminiscent of festive favourite Home Alone, but instead of Macaulay Culkin, it’s a Labrador Retriever named Zeus that fends off the neighbourhood burglars when he’s left at home alone on Christmas Eve. What’s not to love?!

8. Project: Puppies for Christmas

Two young girls plan to get puppies for Christmas by doing good deeds for a Grumpy old neighbour, but unbeknownst to them, he’s actually a disgruntled Angel sent to find good in the world. Together, they learn the true meaning of the Christmas spirit, and this touching movie will be sure to get you in the festive spirit!

9. Lady and the Tramp

The romantic tale of an uptown cocker spaniel and a downtown stray mutt is a real doggy classic, and is a perfect movie to watch with you pup anytime of the year. But as it begins, and ends at Christmas time, and makes us feel all festive inside, it’s makes our top 10 list! The live-action remake streaming on Disney+ keeps all the best parts of the original, but even better, the canine cast includes lots of rescue dogs, all of which found homes before filming.

10. An All Dogs Christmas Carol

In this animated adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic book, the famous tale is retold by the cast of All Dogs Go to Heaven. There’s a reason this story has been told so many different ways and if you love dogs, you’ll definitely want to check out this doggy adventure version!
