Fun ways to enjoy a perfect dog-friendly day around Mount Pleasant

There’s lots of dog-friendly activities to enjoy right on our doorstep, so if you need some inspiration for a fun doggy-day out, we’ve got you covered. Here are some of our favourite dog-friendly ways to enjoy Mount Pleasant to help make planning the perfect day with your pup easy.

Start your day with a cuppa at a dog-friendly coffee shop

Before any adventures with your pup in the city, start your day right with a great cup of coffee. Whether it’s a takeaway cup you’re in after, or you want to enjoy it on a patio with your pup by your side, we’d highly recommend Le Marche St George. Your dog can join you outside this charming café, and he’s sure to get lots of attention from the dog loving staff – your pup may even end up on their Instagram feed as they love to feature their four-legged customers. This hidden gem also serves delicious breakfast options if you need some fuel for the day- we recommend trying the crepes!

Take a walk along the picturesque False Creek Seawall

Next up, make your way to the False Creek Seawall for a beautiful walk with stunning views of the city. Sometimes it’s easy to take the beauty of your city for granted, so take some time to soak it in while strolling along the world-class walking path with you pup. Depending on how much exercise you and your pup are looking for, the Seawall connects English Bay with Science World, Granville Island and Kitsilano Beach. But if you’re looking for a shorter walk with amazing city views, then we’d recommend the the south side of False Creek Seawall.

Let your pup burn off some energy at Charleson Dog Park
This park has fantastic views of False Creek and is a perfect place to stop off if you’ve been walking along the Seawall. If your dog loves splashing and getting muddy, then they will love the waterfall pond area – and there’s also a grassy area to play some fetch. Some things to note before a trip to Charleson is that the waterfall pond off-leash hours are 5pm-10am from June to September, and all day October to May, and that you must ensure your curious pooch keeps out of the duck pond!

Enjoy a beer at a dog-friendly brewery

After a long walk, you’ve earned a beer (or two!) so why not stop off at a dog-friendly brewery before heading home. There’s some great dog-friendly brewery options around Olympic Village so you can’t go wrong. Not sure where to find them? We’re big fans of Faculty Brewing Co., located on Ontario Street, as along with a fantastic selection of local craft beer, they also have a fully heated patio with a safe space to tie your pup nearby, so you can still give them lots of attention while you enjoy your drink. Also be sure to grab something to eat from their snack menu before your journey home.

Journey back with a trip on the Aquabus

If you and your pup are tired out after your day, or if you just want a more scenic and fun journey home, then why not hop on the Aquabus? The Aquabus’s 13 vessels make stops up and down False Creek every 15 minutes or less – so you never have to wait long for a ride. Best of all, all the ferry boats are dog-friendly! Stops include Granville Island, Sunset Beach/WestEnd, David Lam Park, Stamps Landing, Yaletown, Spyglass Place, Plaza of Nations, Science World/The Village and the Maritime Museum, so wherever you live Downtown, you can be back in minutes.
