We’ve compiled some of the best things to do in Yaletown that your pup will enjoy just as much as you will to make planning a fun-filled day with your furry bestie easy.

So whether you want to get some exercise, do some shopping, chill in the park or grab some food that your dog can enjoy too (doggy pizza anyone?), then there’s something for you in this list of 10 of the best dog-friendly things to do in Yaletown.

1. Walk along the Seawall

This may seem obvious, but if you’ve not taken this walk with your pup in a while, you could forget just how beautiful it is. It’s easy to take the beauty of your city for granted, so take some time to soak it in while strolling along the world-class walking path with your pup.

Depending on how much exercise you and your pup are looking for, the Seawall connects English Bay with Science World, Granville Island and Kitsilano Beach.

2. Visit Coopers’ Park

Located east of the Cambie Street Bridge alongside the Yaletown Seawall, this scenic off-leash dog park is a great choice for Downtown dog parents.

As well as the handy location, the views are beautiful and the spacious grassy area is perfect for playful pups.

The fountains at the west side of the park are not only practical for thirsty pups, but are also cute dog sculptures that are definitely appreciated by the humans!

3. Enjoy a coffee with your pup by your side

There are some great coffee shops with dog-friendly outdoor spaces in Yaletown where your pup can always be nearby, so if you prefer to savour your coffee and don’t want to rush off, Matchstick Yaletown is a great choice. Located on the southern edge of Richards Street, not only do they serve delicious coffee and tasty pastries, but they also have a spacious dog-friendly outdoor area so your pup won’t have to miss out on any time with you.

4. Do some shopping in dog-friendly stores

Did you know there are a number of stores in Yaletown that welcome your dog inside?

Your pup can become your new favourite shopping buddy, as long as they are well-behaved and on-leash, as you check out some of the dog-friendly stores in Yaletown.

5. Pick up something special at a luxury pet store

If you want to do some shopping your pup will enjoy, and treat them to something extra special, then we recommend visiting Barking Babies on Homer Street.

This luxury pet store is anything but basic, and is perfect if your pup is a little extra! As well as designer, high quality dog apparel and accessories, they also specialize in dog grooming, teeth cleaning and training.

6. Aquabus in Yaletown

If you and your pup want to visit somewhere else, or simply want a more scenic and fun journey home, then why not hop on the Aquabus at Yaletown Dock?

The Aquabus’s 13 vessels make stops up and down False Creek every 15 minutes or less – so you never have to wait long for a ride. Best of all, all the ferry boats are dog-friendly!

Stops include Granville Island, Sunset Beach/WestEnd, David Lam Park, Stamps Landing, Yaletown, Spyglass Place, Plaza of Nations, Science World/The Village and the Maritime Museum, so if you want to explore, or get home, you can be there in minutes.

7. Picnic at the Park

Pack up some of your favourite snacks and your pup’s favourite treats, and set up a picnic for you both at David Lam Park.

The grassy expanse of David Lam Park is a refreshing green space with beautiful views of False Creek that both you and your pup will love – just remember to keep your dog on leash.

Although this is more appealing in the summer, if you wrap up warm and choose a bright, sunny day, this could be a fun dog-friendly activity in the colder months too!

8. Ice cream for two

Unfortunately, this is a summer only activity, but if you haven’t taken your pup to Sweet Spot Van, you’re missing out. Served out of a trendy VW van parked at Marinaside Crescent, this Vancouver company offers specialty ice cream treats and freshly made waffle cones for humans and Pawpsicles made especially for pups.

This should definitely be on your list for the first sunny day of summer!

9. Enjoy some lunch with your pup at the Roundhouse Circle

The Roundhouse Circle is a great outdoor area with plenty of space for your pup so you can enjoy your lunch with your furry bff right by your side.

If you want some food that both you and your dog can enjoy, we recommend grabbing some pizza from Sciue Italian Bakery Cafe located at the Roundhouse, as they make delicious pizza for you, and a dog-friendly version so your pup doesn’t have to miss out!
